Jerome "Jerry" Williams founded Prism Plastics with two partners after the trio left Huron Plastics Group in 1999. Williams passed away Aug. 27.
Jerome “Jerry” Williams, co-owner and vice president of sales and marketing of Chesterfield Township, Mich.-based Prism Plastics LLC, died Aug. 27 at St. John Hospital in Detroit following surgery to remove fluid from his lungs.
Williams, 51, had battled stomach cancer for several years.
He founded Prism Plastics with Rod Bricker and Gerry Phillips, after the three left Port Huron-based Huron Plastics Group in 1999.
Williams spent more than 13 years at Huron Plastics starting as an engineer before becoming a managing executive.
At Prism Plastics, the trio led the injection molding supplier to revenue of $26.4 million last year, up from $5 million in 2009, through a penchant on productivity.
Prism’s four plants operate with only a handful of employees operating dozens of machines, a model of modern manufacturing. Prism's largest customers include Takata Corp., Autoliv, Key Safety Systems and TI Automotive Inc.
Williams was a member of the St. Clair Golf Club and a commissioner for the American Youth Soccer Organization.
He graduated from De La Salle Collegiate High School in Warren and earned a bachelor’s from University of Detroit Mercy.
Williams is survived by his wife, Anne Marie Williams, and children, Amber, Nathan and Hannah.
Visitation will occur on Friday and Saturday at Young Funeral Home in China Township.
His funeral mass is on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Parish in St. Clair. |
